Writing Coaching

My area of specialization as a coach is in helping writers identify the core issues in the projects they are working on and gain access to their unique voices through analysis of the writing, creative exercises and dialogue about the process.
I am most comfortable working with playwrights and memoirists, though I am open to working in all genres. Compatibility between coach and writer, mutual passion for the project, unshakeable discipline/commitment on the writerâs part and my own schedule are the factors that influence my selection of projects. I reserve the option to discontinue collaboration with a writer who is not writing consistently, unless we are specifically working through writerâs block.
My feedback is intensive, personal and thorough; it sharpens the writerâs own editorial eye, deepens his or her sensitivity to pace, rhythm, authenticity of voice and world, and guides the writer toward revisions and next steps. While I am not an editor or a structuralist, I do offer suggestions about structure as they present themselves organically.
I consider scripts and manuscripts for one-time read-throughs/feedback on a case-by-case basis.
